In the Viewer's Seat: filming and high-end editing of presentations.

In January of 2010, I was asked to film and deliver edited versions of all the presentations of a three-day conference entitled “the Cassini-Huygens Project: Huygens legacy and future Titan exploration” held in Barcelona. I had not filmed presentations before myself, but I had seen filmed presentations on the internet and in general I was not very impressed. So I saw a chance to take a different approach.…See More

Constructivism vs "classical"

Dear community.  I read the pedagogy guide draft document this weekend. I do not pretend to be a specialist in the area at all, but I think the terms Constructivism and "Knowledge Transfer" model (page 8 at the top) need a bit of explanation. In fact, I do not really see how this comes back in the project, does it?? Is it really necessary to mention it at all? I guess probably good to provide a context, but I think in that case, it needs to be more detailed (and perhaps earlier on in the…See More

Recording and Editing Lectures

Dear REC:all community. I am just new to this community. I think the project is very interesting and relevant and I hope I can make useful contributions.I am a filmmaker and planetary scientist. I have been making films mostly related to science and technology. In 2010, a colleague hired me to record and entire 3-day conference (about Cassini/Huygens mission to Saturn) in Barcelona. I first thought I would simply record the speakers speaking (in Medium Shot of Close Shot, and with the best…See More

Dear Joasia.

Thanks for the words of introduction. I think your project is really interesting. I have been exploring recording and producing lectures for some time and I tried to develop a new way to edit them, I have done about 50 lectures now. I will post in the forum to let people know and ask for feedback. If people find it interesting, I could write a little guide to how I do it.

I will take a look at the documents as well and will send my input if I see fit.

Best wishes en groeten.

Maarten
